Information Services

The Fashion Center Information Kiosk and www.fashioncenter.com are vital sources of business-tobusiness information, promoting Fashion District businesses nationally and internationally.

Staffing & Hours of Operation
The Fashion Center Information Kiosk, located on Seventh Avenue at 39th Street, is open to the public Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Inquiries for industry information can also be made through the FCBID website, www.fashioncenter.com, or by emailing info@fashioncenter.com.

Statistics
This year 27,000 individuals visited the Information Kiosk, while countless others were assisted through the FCBID website, directories and other information services.

Video Display Terminals
FCBID staff met repeatedly over the past year with Port Authority officials to negotiate the placement of an interactive video display terminal, similar to the one at the Fashion Center Information Kiosk, in the Bus Terminal to provide area information and promote local retail establishments. The Port Authority is interested in using the FCBID’s touchscreen display model throughout the Bus Terminal.

Republican Convention
In advance of the Republican National Convention, August 30 – September 2, 2004, the FCBID helped district tenants and visitors plan for the extra security measures and street closings that would affect business. Through direct mailings, door-to-door hand-outs and special briefing sessions, the FCBID informed its constituents of all pertinent information from the NYPD and the NYC Host Committee. More than 700 tenants and numerous local television and newspaper reporters attended the FCBID briefing sessions.

Updated Map
An updated version of the Fashion District MAP, which features a retail directory for the area, was printed and mailed to all property owners, tenants, and real estate brokers. Property owners may request multiple copies of the MAP for their tenants or for use in marketing space in the area.

Website
Since a large portion of the visitors to the Information Kiosk are interested in starting new fashion businesses, the FCBID has begun working with Infomat to develop a new section of the popular www.fashioncenter.com website dedicated to these start-ups. The FCBID is also considering reviving the popular Designers Forum discussion series to help these entrepreneurs. Information and features on the website are consistently added to and updated.
