The FCBID regularly creates programs,
events and printed materials
to promote the Fashion District
and its tenants, as well as create
awareness of the FCBID’s role in
the neighborhood’s development.
Eats & Seats
In January 2004, the
FCBID created the Eats & Seats
program to promote the growing number of restaurants
and Off-Broadway theaters in the district. This
year, the following were accomplished as part of the
Eats & Seats Program:
Z-CARD
In Summer 2004, the FCBID published
a handy Z-card map which highlights all the theaters and eateries in
the Fashion District. The map folds-up to pocket-size
for convenience.
HELL’S KITCHEN
In Fall 2004, the FCBID promoted Eats & Seats at the
and Tenth Avenues. FCBID personnel staffed a booth
at the Market and distributed the new Z-card Map, as
well as information on current and upcoming shows. Open Studios
The FCBID held its first
Open Studio event on October 21, 23, and 24, 2004. The weekend was an
outstanding
success with over 1500 visitors touring area studios and galleries. The
FCBID took the opportunity to cross promote
local Off-Broadway theaters and restaurants via
distribution of the new Z-card map and directory. Baryshnikov Arts Center
The FCBID is
working with the new Baryshnikov Arts Center, located at 450 West 37th
Street, to find ways
to link the new cultural center to the Fashion District.
In February 2005, the FCBID hosted a meeting of New
York’s museum costume curators and the Baryshnikov
Arts Center to begin planning for an exhibition on the
costumes of dancer Maya Plisetskaya. The exhibition is
planned for early 2006, and attempts will be made to
coordinate it with Fashion Week.
Voting is Always in Style!
For several
weeks leading up to Election Day 2004, the FCBID displayed colorful,
non-partisan images and messages
in the windows of the Information Kiosk urging
people to vote. Ten prominent designers created the
window images for the display, which ran in over 250
newspapers and magazines nationwide, reaching millions
of voters.
10 Year Anniversary Celebration
To celebrate its 10th Anniversary, the FCBID created a
brochure highlighting its record of accomplishments,
using colorful images and a detailed timeline of projects
and events from the past 10 years.
