Bonnie Cashin, Giorgio di Sant’ Angelo,
James Galanos, Charles James, Donna Karan, Anne Klein, Oscar
de la Renta and Pauline Trigere are the 2001
Fashion Walk of Fame Inductees. Their commemorative plaques are unveiled at a
breakfast at the Bryant Park Hotel. The ceremony is covered in
newspapers and magazines around the country, including the coveted
Sunday Styles section of the NY Times.

FCBID hosts its first annual Operation
Laptop,
helping district residents register laptops with the NYPD for
free.
OCTOBER 2001
FCBID redesigns
its popular District MAP to include a directory of eateries and
other retail establishments.
The first 10,000 copies are gone in no time!
OCTOBER 2001
In the wake of 9/11, the FCBID launches "Fight Back NY," a
publicity campaign encouraging New Yorkers to spend money and
patronize the city’s theaters, restaurants and shops. The
Smithsonian Institution
requests "Fight Back" materials to include in its
permanent 9/11 collection.
FALL 2001
Avenue Magazine publishes special insert section about the FCBID
and the Fashion District.
Crime is down
52% since the FCBID was formed.
Sanitation's
record to date: 3,227 tons of litter collected.
Economic Profile
indicates pedestrian activity is up 22%
throughout the district from 4 years ago.
