JULY 2002

Eighth Avenue becomes the first place in the country to employ a new antigraffiti system developed in Britain. The next year, the system is employed on all Avenues in the district.


SEPTEMBER 2002

Number of street banners doubles to 100 to increase visibility.

OCTOBER 2002

FCBID installs another 16 security lights along Eighth Avenue, adding 6400 additional watts of light to the streets.

NOVEMBER 2002

FCBID institutes ComNet, a stateof- the-art computer tracking program that documents infrastructure issues.

The award-winning www.fashioncenter.com website undergoes a major update. A new section on real estate is added to satisfy growing interest in the district.

DECEMBER 2002

FCBID completes a comprehensive study of the history and effectiveness of the Special Garment District Zoning.

Crime is down 58% since the FCBID was formed. Sanitation hits a milestone: a half million bags of litter have been collected to date - that's 3,663 tons of litter. Economic Profile reports

economic downturn, the
Fashion District retail climate holds its own as ground floor vacancies remain steady.
Information Kiosk has served more than 100,000 people to date.
