FCBID successfully lobbies NYCDOT for 4 new light poles on Eighth Avenue – that’s 8000 more watts of light. The FCBID has now added a total of 225,000 watts of light to district streets.

MAY 2003

FCBID doubles the number of café chairs in the popular Summer Garden.

JUNE 2003

FCBID launches " Authentic New York," a branding strategy designed, to broaden the district’s image. The “Authentic New York” tagline and new signature yellow and green are added to everything from the Information Kiosk to sanitation uniforms.

FCBID planting program expands to a total of 100 colorful flower baskets installed on light poles throughout the district.

The Museum at FIT mounts a major exhibition,
"Seventh Avenue: Fashion Walk of Fame," about this important FCBID project.

FCBID enters into agreement with the new Street to Home Initiative to work toward supportive housing for homeless individuals.

OCTOBER 2003

FCBID develops a state-ofthe- art interactive touch screen video display for the Information Kiosk, allowing 24-hour access to FCBID information services.

FCBID publishes Fashion Walk of Fame Commemorative Booklet.

Holiday decorations are increased in number to include Avenue lightpoles.

DECEMBER 2003

The award-winning Antenna Design creates an innovative multirack newsbox structure for the Fashion District that combines a planter with a newsrack.

Crime is down 64% since FCBID was formed. Sanitation's record to date: 4,100 tons of litter collected. Economic Profile notes the emergence of a vibrant arts community in the district, including a growing number of theaters.
Information Kiosk has served more than 128,000 people to date.
