A crowd of 2000 attends the FCBID launch
event on the plaza
of 1411 Broadway, including then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a host

other elected of€ cials and
prominent individuals from the fashion and real estate communities.
Sanitation
team begins a district maintenance program, painting 116 light
poles, 87 fire hydrants, 92 storage boxes, 19 mail
boxes, 74 traffic signals, 19 traffic boxes, 10 fire boxes,
15 newsstands and 200 litter baskets - PLUS graffiti
is removed from over 100 building facades.
AUGUST 1994
FCBID launches a Travel Services Program to assist buyers by arranging
discounted amenities.
FCBID publishes first issues of the Fashion
Center Newsletter and the Fashion
District MAP.
OCTOBER 1994
FCBID launches its Street Banner Program, installing
50 colorful banners on light poles throughout the district.
OCTOBER 1994
Apparel News publishes the first of three special inserts
about the FCBID and the Fashion District.
NOVEMBER 1994
NY Times runs the MAP on the front
page of its Sunday
Real Estate Section and the FCBID is inundated with calls from
those interested
in the district.
