Machine, the newest addition to the FCBID’s arsenal of
weapons against dirt!
SEPTEMBER 1996
The Fashion Center
Information Kiosk is unveiled by then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The
Kiosk goes on to win numerous public architecture awards and
to be pictured in publications around the world. It also becomes
a beloved NYC landmark.
FCBID launches a comprehensive and state-of-the-art
website that promotes Fashion District businesses around the world. The
site becomes the winner of many awards while its popularity grows
to millions of hits per year.

FCBID launches Designers
Forum, a business discussion series, bringing those new or aspiring
to the fashion industry together with successful industry professionals.
Renowned design firm Ehrenkrantz and Eckstut completes master
Streetscape Plan for the Fashion District which includes such elements
as new
lighting, signage, sidewalks and gatewayfixtures.
Crime is down
40% since the FCBID was formed.
Sanitation's
record to date: 880 tons of litter collected.
Economic Profile
determines the FCBID area has a total economic impact of $18 billion.
