With the Fashion District's
strategic location as the
gateway to the future west side Hudson Yards project,
the FCBID is poised to begin an exciting new chapter. As
we develop long term strategies to maximize
the district’s potential, we continue to raise the
question of the appropriateness of the Special Garment
Center Zoning, as this could be a defining issue for the
district’s future. We also look to cultivate our growing
arts, retail and restaurant markets and to create new
opportunities by exploring the feasibility of increasing
residential development to complement these uses.
Meanwhile, of course, we will always maintain
attention to our core services of sanitation, public safety, and streetscape
improvements
- all in an effort
to insure that the Fashion District evolves with the
times and increases in competitiveness over the next
ten years...and beyond.
