The FCBID has created a variety of unique initiatives designed to promote the district and its diverse tenant base, including SIDEWALK CATWALK, ART+DESIGN in the Fashion District, and the Fashion Walk of Fame, to name a few. And the Fashion Center Information Kiosk is perhaps the most highly-regarded tourism initiative of all, having served as a public resource for tourists and visitors since 1995.
TOUR DE FASHION
Tour de Fashion was a week-long designer bicycle rental during fall Fashion Week 2011. Tour de Fashion was created by the Fashion Center Business Improvement District (BID) in an effort to highlight New York City’s legendary Fashion District as the birthplace and epicenter of American fashion. The bicycles were built in New York City and customized by 30 of NYC’s top fashion designers, including Diane von Furstenberg, Betsey Johnson, Isaac Mizrahi and Juicy Couture.

SIDEWALK CATWALK
THE FASHION CENTER SIDEWALK CATWALK PRESENTED BY LF USA was a one-of-a-kind public art exhibit, featuring New York City’s top fashion designers in the heart of the Fashion District. The 2010 exhibit, now officially closed, offered the artistic interpretations of a fashion industry icon – the mannequin – by 30 of New York’s leading designers and two student design teams. The exhibit showcased custom-built mannequins, displayed runway-style down Broadway from Times Square to Herald Square (map), each modeling a bold, one-of-a-kind manifestation of its designer’s artistic vision. Created by the Fashion Center Business Improvement District with great support from our partners and sponsors, this high-profile installation showcased the vitality and creative spirit of the industry in a unique outdoor setting on the public plazas of Broadway in the heart of Manhattan.
