District streets are cleaned seven days a week by the FCBID’s 23 uniformed Sanitation staff, working with building management, businesses and the NYC Department of Sanitation. In addition to street sweeping, specialized services include graffiti removal, street furniture painting and steam-cleaning of sidewalks.
Efforts paid off in 2007 as the Mayor’s Operation Scorecard rated sidewalks 98.2 % clean and streets 95.9% clean for the year. To achieve those ratings, the FCBID sanitation staff worked a total of 54,080 hours, collecting 418.7 tons of trash in 73,939 logo bags. That makes grand totals to date of 6,438 tons collected in 954,071 logo bags.
