In late February, the FCBID
moved its headquarters one block south to 209 West 38th Street, in
a second floor space above the famed Ben's
Deli. The move may not have been far but in represents a significant
step in the organizations history.

After having spent 14
years in its original offices, the time had come for the organization
to find a home that could accommodate all the BID services and programs
that have expanded over the years in response to changing and increasing
district needs. The BID’s new space,
designed by architect Nick Tjarjalis, offers more spacious and upgraded
locker and lunch room facilities for the FCBID sanitation and public
safety staff, and its enlarged conference room offers the BID the ability
to hold programs on the site. To tour the new FCBID headquarters, contact

As part of its ongoing efforts to support the Fashion District’s
growing identity as an artists’ enclave, the FCBID had dedicated
the storefront window of its new headquarters as a space for public
art. The first installation, entitled “(white) columns” by
artist Tara Parsons, went on display in February when the BID took
over the space. Working with the renowned arts organization, chashama,
the FCBID will continue to display various public art projects throughout
the year in this space.
The FCBID’s new office space has allowed the organization to
create another program to assist young designers. The cost and availability
of temporary showroom space is often prohibitive for those trying to
bgecome established in this field. Accordingly, the FCBID is making
its 900 sq ft conference room available as showroom space, free of
charge, on a temporary basis. Those interesting in using the space
should contact the FCBID office at 212-764-9600 Restrictions apply.
