On May 12 and 14, the Fashion Center BID conducted its first Broadway Boulevard Bike Count. The goal of the initiative was simple: To find out how the bike lane along Broadway is used, more than two years after its installation. The count was conducted at two different stations – one between west 36th and west 37th Streets and one between west 40th and west 41st Streets – on each of the two collection dates. Ultimately, the study yielded a wealth of data that will be used to support the BID’s argument that the dedicated bicycle lane is misplaced and should be relocated to the outside of the in-street pedestrian plazas along Broadway.
